A juggler, a ballerina and a hoop dancer perform alongside Corinne on a circus inspired, small-scale theatre set, where the art direction invites the viewer to see ‘backstage’ into a make-believe world of mirrored rooms, trapeze hoops and dancing skeletons. It’s as though a performance is about to take place, or has just ended, with dimly lit bulbs and a life-size spinning knife thrower’s wheel.
The world Corinne finds herself in is surreal, ethereal and tactile, and filled with intricate, beautiful costumes and a dreamlike colour palette.
Lord Whitney work with acclaimed director, James Frost, and visit the wonderful, playful world of circus in this promo for Corinne Bailey Rae’s song, ‘Hey! I won’t break your heart’. Inspired by the traditional circus shows of the 1920s and 30s, but brought up to date with art direction that gives a contemporary yet timeless feel.
Nowadays, I feel like most of the time we are problem solving, trying to retain as much production value as possible. With Rebekah & Amy and their incredible crew, it didn’t feel like that at all. In fact, it was quite the opposite. They brought a hands on approach that was contagious, along with a real eye for detail that made the sets look stunning and a few good laughs along the way. An all round treat for a director.
